Simmons House

Quest were nominated by the client to complete a difficult but essential extension to the Simmons House and Adolescent Unit for young people between 13 and 18 years of age.

The unit is equipped to cater for up to 12 young people in individual bedrooms with en  suite facilities. The length of stay at Simmons House depends on the young person’s requirements and collaborative aims and goals.

The facility is designed for young people to be admitted for anything from a few days to longer admission periods of up to 9 months. Quest were selected as a result of their professional approach and previous experience of working in such sensitive live environments.

The works involved creating an extension to the second floor in order to create 2  additional new en-suite bedrooms for the facility whilst upgrading 2 existing rooms. The project works were carried out within shared areas of Simmons House so it was essential for strong communication throughout and extensive planning in order to ensure there was minimum impact for staff and residents.

Throughout the course of the project, it was necessary for Quest to make a number of difficult adjustments to work around developments that arose as a result of a neighbouring construction site which caused limited general access and flow to the works.

The project was handed over to a high standard with a happy client, and the rooms being used the very next day after handover.
